City of stars, are you shining just for me?<br />
<br />
We're a little obsessed with La La Land around here lately. Ryan and I LOVED the movie, and of course we Amazon Primed the soundtrack as soon as we got home. Haha! I swear we play that album at least twice a day...every...single...day. So when it came time to choose Ryan's birthday cake theme, it was a no-brainer. La La Land cake it is!<br />
<br />
This was a fondant covered vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. I used spray food coloring in purple, blue, and black to make the sky. The dancing Mia and Sebastian are all hand cut gumpaste. This was super fun to make and I was very pleased with the final product!<br />

Well, I should rephrase that and say that he only plays one game - Modern Warfare 3. He plays online, with friends, with a headset. Oh yes, he is hardcore. So when it came time for me to think of a birthday cake concept for this year's birthday it was pretty much a no-brainer. Now I'm no fan of his gaming hobby, so I think that me making this cake for him should get me some sort of "wife of the year" award, shouldn't it? Yes, it should. <br />
Here's the <strike>bane of my existence</strike> cake!<br />
<br />
I covered the cake with black satin ice fondant. The insides were vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. His fav.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-93qsdNWB_Rc/Ty8-eM6XgNI/AAAAAAAAB_Q/MFTlYaUihoM/s1600/IMG_9864-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-93qsdNWB_Rc/Ty8-eM6XgNI/AAAAAAAAB_Q/MFTlYaUihoM/s640/IMG_9864-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />

I got trick candles so he had to huff and puff to blow them out. Tricky tricky!!<br />

It's New Girl on Fox! I first saw a commercial for New Girl in May of last year while at a friend's house. When I got home I searched for the commercial online so I could watch it again. Hilarious! I quickly friended the show on facebook and twitter and waited for it to air. When it finally came time for the premier I was super excited and it did not disappoint! New Girl is about Jess (played by Zooey Deschanel), who discovered her live-in boyfriend canoodling with another woman. She needed a place to live, pronto, and found Winston (Lamorne Morris), Nick (Jake M. Johnson), and Schmidt (Max Greenfield). The show follows Jess as she jumps back into singlehood and her adventures with the three handsome bachelors. The thing I love the most about this show is how silly and dorky Jess' character is...I can relate! Another thing, her wardrobe is just as cute as she is. When I saw that Duncan Hines was doing a New Girl "Adorkable" cake pops contest I was in, and I knew what my inspiration was going to be...Jess' clothes! Talk about right up my alley - I love New Girl and I love baking. This contest was made for me! :)<br />
<br />
So here we go! First, here's how I made the pops...<br />
<br />
Recipe:<br />
1 box Duncan Hines Cake Mix any flavor (and ingredients indicated on the box for baking)<br />
1 can of Duncan Hines Frosting any flavor<br />
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-1911-498-White-Candy-Melts/dp/B0000VONAM/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1327114483&sr=1-1">Chocolate Candy Melts</a><br />
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-Inch-Lollipop-Sticks-Count/dp/B0000CFO7O/ref=sr_1_4?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1327114529&sr=1-4">Lollipop Sticks</a><br />
Sprinkles or anything you'd like to use for decoration<br />
<br />
First, bake your cake as directed on the box. Cool it completely and have a large bowl, spatula, and the icing ready.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyq2Wlv3rey4-c92kb3HajPAKawz_nJRtTbbMXbhZN6QiFSMy_nt7TkXdJLV0DruTqb44qZJaU3RDLpl2bi6uF5l6SLV6dJ40LYla9QI2ASbf1LDackNF00VcwXc6-JNgtbbJQ4iR-Jbw/s1600/IMG_9713-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyq2Wlv3rey4-c92kb3HajPAKawz_nJRtTbbMXbhZN6QiFSMy_nt7TkXdJLV0DruTqb44qZJaU3RDLpl2bi6uF5l6SLV6dJ40LYla9QI2ASbf1LDackNF00VcwXc6-JNgtbbJQ4iR-Jbw/s640/IMG_9713-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Then scoop the cake out of the pan and start to crumble it over the bowl with your hands. Crumble it until you get fine crumbs. I do this in small amounts to make sure that I crumble every little bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSudhcqZG7A/TxohRE_NYQI/AAAAAAAAB80/fYbZOO0vw4E/s1600/IMG_9727-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xSudhcqZG7A/TxohRE_NYQI/AAAAAAAAB80/fYbZOO0vw4E/s640/IMG_9727-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Next scoop all of your icing out of the container and add to the cake crumbs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oigzcYWQwn4/TxohSPHIrgI/AAAAAAAAB88/z6Nh8AI9itA/s1600/IMG_9728-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oigzcYWQwn4/TxohSPHIrgI/AAAAAAAAB88/z6Nh8AI9itA/s640/IMG_9728-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MbLZX_1WUCg/TxohT_3SbvI/AAAAAAAAB9E/JOUFqnxzZEw/s1600/IMG_9731-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MbLZX_1WUCg/TxohT_3SbvI/AAAAAAAAB9E/JOUFqnxzZEw/s640/IMG_9731-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Stir stir stir until the crumbs and icing are totally combined. It should look like a dough.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hhpi1v48_o8/TxrEC3HNY-I/AAAAAAAAB-k/h_gHKIBfFcM/s1600/IMG_9742-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hhpi1v48_o8/TxrEC3HNY-I/AAAAAAAAB-k/h_gHKIBfFcM/s640/IMG_9742-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Next, use your hands to shape the cake dough into any shape your little heart desires. TIP: If this gets too sticky, lightly dampen your hands with a little water. Place your cake shapes on a cookie sheet and pop it in the freezer for 15 minutes or until the shapes are firm.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpDnWmWB51wIiq7q3utwCtyGp8WT9rxVUYU4tscOQjC9JlCcq43FhX8HnMNMDW0uwfvAaoHSWCauzrlFQ6ARDjS0TllLDQbjSv1Nb6AZZEJdJgVGiE7fFYqMOE8LkU1YBD2mAAk64YQZ8/s1600/IMG_9745-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpDnWmWB51wIiq7q3utwCtyGp8WT9rxVUYU4tscOQjC9JlCcq43FhX8HnMNMDW0uwfvAaoHSWCauzrlFQ6ARDjS0TllLDQbjSv1Nb6AZZEJdJgVGiE7fFYqMOE8LkU1YBD2mAAk64YQZ8/s640/IMG_9745-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Melt your chocolate candy melts in the microwave 30 seconds at a time until they are smooth. Stir between each 30 seconds. I use sturdy plastic cups to eliminate cleanup, but make sure you don't get them too hot or they will melt! TIP: if your chocolate is too thick, add a tiny drizzle of vegetable oil and stir. This should thin it out a bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zfh42QQGIw8/TxohYLNGRGI/AAAAAAAAB9c/FZ2YO3PHHN0/s1600/IMG_9763-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zfh42QQGIw8/TxohYLNGRGI/AAAAAAAAB9c/FZ2YO3PHHN0/s640/IMG_9763-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Dip your stick into the chocolate about 1/4 inch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCH7O4KzBTdP04UTXYMOT6GDke3qwoITgZyqnmUSwAsGUFbDiUZsUcaU_a3mkV6S5iR7vrpDbGVY3Q-t9HgbfFgOgKcawvy4aYhY63WEG_bBCR1G0g0sRsQTmfDkY28dBA4cldKnxRB1k/s1600/IMG_9828-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCH7O4KzBTdP04UTXYMOT6GDke3qwoITgZyqnmUSwAsGUFbDiUZsUcaU_a3mkV6S5iR7vrpDbGVY3Q-t9HgbfFgOgKcawvy4aYhY63WEG_bBCR1G0g0sRsQTmfDkY28dBA4cldKnxRB1k/s640/IMG_9828-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Then insert the stick half way into your cake shape. I used a round ball here.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGT8D_Z4fa2MJPl8bFFa6-JDPuhoDILNYD6akvF6Ni18K61olb9hi_wAqinP7ae5TTNtIqshB-q08Ic9NXPJb5eghjzl8J8H9P5QCcZIfSLf761872Ke8a4RxMy1CFTihyphenhyphenJv_XJOl0d4k/s1600/IMG_9832-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGT8D_Z4fa2MJPl8bFFa6-JDPuhoDILNYD6akvF6Ni18K61olb9hi_wAqinP7ae5TTNtIqshB-q08Ic9NXPJb5eghjzl8J8H9P5QCcZIfSLf761872Ke8a4RxMy1CFTihyphenhyphenJv_XJOl0d4k/s640/IMG_9832-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Tilt the ball around in the chocolate until it is completely covered. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFOJighz4dhVOifWSJjOWddo_tnHsqhWV0dccMPV_gwb1sscCcrxHM35nMc_I7B2d-j920XRW7gPtegjLFKLwpFMZEac2nPfNN-U-GWor7PcL1X10tf8VCE2LbT5GmVHNT07kEJ93CRWM/s1600/IMG_9835-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFOJighz4dhVOifWSJjOWddo_tnHsqhWV0dccMPV_gwb1sscCcrxHM35nMc_I7B2d-j920XRW7gPtegjLFKLwpFMZEac2nPfNN-U-GWor7PcL1X10tf8VCE2LbT5GmVHNT07kEJ93CRWM/s640/IMG_9835-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Flip vertically and allow the chocolate to set. You can pop the stick down into a piece of styrofoam to let it firm up. Add sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet to make em pretty! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibbmEJTsZctLxnl-0-CDnY1GDJGGESoekVvIJw38xQdJ3VOwGvVbjYiY3-o58LpCHo_LuIJeIOUgWMJCl_I3sTshDaqj3YQUWOpo1R_1hgelvYyiDc0yyQryNQJPGu8bf9H6pdEX6_GpA/s1600/IMG_9837-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibbmEJTsZctLxnl-0-CDnY1GDJGGESoekVvIJw38xQdJ3VOwGvVbjYiY3-o58LpCHo_LuIJeIOUgWMJCl_I3sTshDaqj3YQUWOpo1R_1hgelvYyiDc0yyQryNQJPGu8bf9H6pdEX6_GpA/s640/IMG_9837-1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
And without further adieu, here are my entries into the cake pop contest! Check out the videos to see them in action. :)<br />
<br />
First, Jess' dress that she wore in the pilot episode. Super cute!! The design on the dress was made by melting white chocolate in a plastic zip bag, snipping a tiny bit off of the bottom corner and squeezing the chocolate out onto the pop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlydTaD1ENErjMlDgTKkJnQPrhqbOXFhpZCfTBHTHZJXbqJDFu2f28PxRvoilfUhFdMsVBWzJiIxSrje4sjyurEyETgF_N6R5vZWkVQ7gSnG7VqSScNxgo2lggQBr5Ocy6QVeOQff6558/s1600/dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlydTaD1ENErjMlDgTKkJnQPrhqbOXFhpZCfTBHTHZJXbqJDFu2f28PxRvoilfUhFdMsVBWzJiIxSrje4sjyurEyETgF_N6R5vZWkVQ7gSnG7VqSScNxgo2lggQBr5Ocy6QVeOQff6558/s640/dress.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Next is Jess' starfish, um, lingerie? The bra and undies were make by painting some wet chocolate over the dried pop and quickly shaking some blue and purple sprinkles over the wet chocolate. The black starfish and straps are made with fondant.<br />

This is inspired by the turkey costume that Jess wore in the Thanksgiving episode. One of my favorites! Mr. Turkey has candy corn making up his colorful plumage and beak, and a black fondant hat.<br />

And finally, I just couldn't let the guys go unrepresented. Here we have Schmidt's sexy Santa costume from the Christmas Episode. This is made by first dipping the pop into the flesh color, then dipping the shorts in the red color and painting on the red and white trim after that. The buttons and belt are black fondant with a gold belt buckle painted on with <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Super-Gold-43-1233-Luster-Dust/dp/B0000VLH8S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327114421&sr=8-1">luster dust</a>.<br />

Darn busy holiday season! So here it is...a daisy cake that I made for my friend Holly's birthday. Holly is a friend that I've made here in Wisconsin. We have a lot in common, and it's been fun hanging out with her! She requested a daisy cake for her birthday and here is what we came up with. It is covered in green fondant and white gumpaste daisies that I hand made. The white pearls around the bottom were made with a mold like <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/stuf03f-20/detail/B001JTC0UY">this</a>. The inside was red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. Num yummy!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QkoU66DeEho/TwuZUDJKFiI/AAAAAAAAB8A/vy0s1c9h61A/s1600/IMG_9044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QkoU66DeEho/TwuZUDJKFiI/AAAAAAAAB8A/vy0s1c9h61A/s640/IMG_9044.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><br />

Tailgate Truffles Tutorial, Tailgate Truffles Tutorial, Tailgate Truffles Tutorial, Tailgate Truffles Tutorial,Tailgate Truffles Tutorial. Say that five times fast! The NFL Playoffs are coming this weekend and these Tailgate Truffles are perfect to bring to a football party. They are super yummy and decadent. As promised, I've put together a little tutorial to show how I made them. I'm a Packer fan, so I went with green and gold, but of course you can personalize these to match your team's colors. You can find pre-colored chocolate at any craft store or on <a href="http://astore.amazon.com/stuf03f-20/detail/B0000CFH1O">amazon.com</a><br />
Here we go!!!<br />
<br />
Ingredients<br />
1 8oz package Cream Cheese softened<br />
1 16.6oz package of Oreos<br />
2 14oz bags of colored chocolate candy melts<br />
<br />
1. Place entire package of Oreos into a food processor that has a chopping blade attachment<br />
2. Put the lid on and pulse pulse pulse until the Oreos are totally ground up into fine crumbs<br />
3. Place Oreo crumbs into a bowl with the 8oz package of cream cheese<br />
4. Mix the Oreos and cream cheese until they are totally combined. They will come together to make a dark brown dough<br />
5. Using a small cookie scoop or just a simple tablespoon, drop spoonfuls of the Oreo dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment or wax paper<br />
6. Shape the dough into round balls using the palms of your hands. Place in the freezer for 10 minutes<br />
7. Place your two colors of chocolate into two separate bowls. Melt in the microwave as directed on the package.<br />
8. Take your dough balls out of the freezer and place a few into the bowls of chocolate.<br />
9. Use a fork to entirely coat your truffle with the chocolate<br />
10. Gently lift the truffle out of the chocolate and place back on the lined cookie sheet<br />
11. Fill two ziplock bags with a small amount of each color of the chocolate. Snip a tiny amount off of the bottom corner of the bag and squeeze the chocolate out over your truffles. Alternate the colors - on mine, I squeezed yellow chocolate on the green truffles and vice versa.<br />
12. Place back in the freezer to let the chocolate set up. Enjoy!<br />
<br />
I've created a pictorial story board of each step of the recipe. Just follow along step by step, number by number. If you are on <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>, this is a great photo to pin for this recipe. It is all one image so pin away my friends!!<br />

How sad is it that this is our first year carving pumpkins together??? Better late than never, I suppose! We begin our pumpkin fun at a local pumpkin patch...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxIxxX9lx6Yj5x16mKCJrpqQCQHjVMG7gkorH9xptp_uvaB9FG-9DklMrYRKvHOSKJBLdO1XYfuWszy35mEjARLpdkIKAEUDthSi5XijOPu1fEZ9MgUoO-hp57hjB3owzs2LFCfr_e2Q/s1600/IMG_8722.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAxIxxX9lx6Yj5x16mKCJrpqQCQHjVMG7gkorH9xptp_uvaB9FG-9DklMrYRKvHOSKJBLdO1XYfuWszy35mEjARLpdkIKAEUDthSi5XijOPu1fEZ9MgUoO-hp57hjB3owzs2LFCfr_e2Q/s640/IMG_8722.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br />

</div><div>Then they sat on the back porch for a week. Our poor pumpkins sat there unceremoniously, got rained on, and occasionally sniffed by the dog. Tonight they sat glowing on our front stoop welcoming the trick-or-treaters. I suspect their eventual fate will find them smashed on the street by a gang of unruly teenagers. That remains to be seen, but until then....HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!<br />

I've owned these cups and spoons for about a year now and they are fabulous!!! Their solid stainless steel construction will last you a lifetime of baking and they are truly stainless. My set has no rust or water marks on it and they still look brand spanking new. One of the best features of these cups and spoons is the oval shape which will let you dip them down into jars and spice containers much easier than a round spoon. Check em' out!!<br />

Seems like there is a different festival, party, or event to attend every weekend. Guess you've gotta get it all in before it turns back into the north pole and no one leaves their house. Here are some pics of this Summer's highlights so far...<div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It's been a good summer! We are just starting to feel a cool down in the air this month and Autumn is just around the corner. Crazy since it doesn't start cooling off until October in Florida! I'm getting excited for hay rides, apple picking, and wearing cute scarves. :)</div><div><br />

It should be coming this week and I will write another post once the shop is up!<br />
<br />
On August 1st, I'll be re-opening my Etsy shop after a 2 year hiatus. Getting married and moving across the country has been keeping me busy so I decided to set the shop aside for a bit. But I'm back!!!<br />

My jewelry is made from all natural materials like fine silver, pearls and gemstones. I don't use cheaper metals that will rust or turn colors. This jewelry should last you a lifetime and will only require a few swipes of a polishing cloth if the silver gets tarnished, which eventually all silver does. I'll be posting a few sneak peeks on Stuff by Stace in the coming weeks so check back for updates!Staceyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12919265548028901103noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5025863322858019704.post-45570645454889084192011-07-12T22:06:00.000-04:002011-07-12T22:06:44.505-04:00Bunny Rabbit Girl's Baby Shower CakeI made my latest cake for my friend Gina, who is one month away from having a baby girl named Lilah. :) All of the decorations on the cake are handmade in fondant and the insides were vanilla cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing. YUM! The decorations for the party were bright pink so I decided to make most of the cake a lighter pink with bright pink accents. Here she is!<br />

It was a nice Wisconsin summer day...<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We enjoyed walking around, looking at all the artisan stands and enjoying the yummy food including lots of strawberry goodness like strawberry wine and strawberry shortcake!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMsQGXm5qZz-dgwQp0W-eNzsgjQQAa6XRPyNn_whpscFQG1hDOtPrv95UWDJK3LkkXBkxcjpt-YmA3SQdnPCr2gRt4bkYJ26xusAS8X3FLwnpvpFb3JEH47q6axqizXT7AsCzaYNZZvXQ/s1600/IMG_7170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="428" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMsQGXm5qZz-dgwQp0W-eNzsgjQQAa6XRPyNn_whpscFQG1hDOtPrv95UWDJK3LkkXBkxcjpt-YmA3SQdnPCr2gRt4bkYJ26xusAS8X3FLwnpvpFb3JEH47q6axqizXT7AsCzaYNZZvXQ/s640/IMG_7170.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I decided to try a Strawberry Buckle which is basically a coffee cake with strawberries in it. YUM! You can mix up the fruit too. I really want to try it with blueberries or apples. The recipe is so simple and the finished buckle was deee-licious! Tastes just like a coffee cake with strawberry jam in it. Here it is...<br />

These are super easy because you don't need different colors or consistencies of royal icing. Just make one batch and load it into some icing squeeze bottles. Easy McSqueezy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">First we'll start off with the recipe for the cookies and the royal icing. I obtained these recipes from cakecentral.com so I'll just link you directly to them there. Here is the recipe for the sugar cookie dough --><a href="http://cakecentral.com/recipes/2055/no-fail-sugar-cookies">clicky</a> and the recipe for the royal icing --><a href="http://cakecentral.com/recipes/1983/antonia74-royal-icing">click-a-roo</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">A few things that you'll need before you get started.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-Lollipop-Sticks-20-Pkg-11-75/dp/B002YJN78M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=arts-crafts&qid=1308887789&sr=1-1">Lollipop sticks</a> - you can get these at any craft store. I use the Wilton brand</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Squeeze-Bottles-Pkg-6-Oz/dp/B003LARSAQ">Icing squeeze bottle</a> - I also got these at the craft store for $2.50, they are Wilton too</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-7-5-oz-Sprinkles-Rainbow-Nonpareils/dp/B001K7Q5PQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308887863&sr=8-1">Rainbow nonpareil sprinkles</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wilton-100-ct-Treat-Bags-Clear/dp/B000W5EFAO/ref=sr_1_20?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1308887890&sr=1-20">Clear favor bags</a> and ribbon (optional)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Step 1. Make your cookie dough, roll out, and cut into round shapes with a round cookie or biscuit cutter. You'll need to make the cookies fairly thick to allow some space around your lollipop stick. Place your cookies on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Next, insert your lollipop stick sideways into the cookie on the pan. You can place your hand on top of the cookie to make sure you are guiding it in straight. Bake cookies as directed and cool completely.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While your cookies are baking, make your royal icing. You'll probably want to add two more tablespoons of water than what the recipe says to get the consistency that you want. Think the consistency of honey. Once you are done with the icing, carefully spoon it into one of your icing squeeze bottles. Keep the icing bowl handy, because you'll probably need to re-load it as you go.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EOPuEVTUHFE/TgQA8edccBI/AAAAAAAABaM/880cTA9LA-E/s1600/Rainbow+Pops+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EOPuEVTUHFE/TgQA8edccBI/AAAAAAAABaM/880cTA9LA-E/s640/Rainbow+Pops+1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
2. Once your cookies are baked and your royal icing is loaded into the squeeze bottle, you can get to work! First, start by drawing a circle around the perimeter of the cookie with your royal icing. <br />
<br />
3. Next, squeeze a bunch of icing out into the middle of your circle and use a small offset spatula or knife to fill in the entire circle. Set your cookies aside so the icing can dry- at LEAST 2 hours. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqcaEtBgvFHHO4oq8_Rz0xkuf-U-ZjTSHtL85Cn61ZrimfD-Ldfvf6bsGn0wctOltAn5waia2ZOIPkChQDBGLeIN1LUPmMltInGXS2OPdrszLip81XIifcXZSBqkR8LGVQaEUCnVaDLpU/s1600/Rainbow+Pops+2+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqcaEtBgvFHHO4oq8_Rz0xkuf-U-ZjTSHtL85Cn61ZrimfD-Ldfvf6bsGn0wctOltAn5waia2ZOIPkChQDBGLeIN1LUPmMltInGXS2OPdrszLip81XIifcXZSBqkR8LGVQaEUCnVaDLpU/s640/Rainbow+Pops+2+3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
4. Once your icing has dried you should be able to touch it with your fingers without it feeling tacky at all. It should feel totally dry. This is important because you don't want the sprinkles sticking where they shouldn't be. After you've confirmed this, break out your icing squeeze bottle again and squeeze a fun spiral shape onto your previously laid (and dried) icing foundation.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0DKKSqnjYmvqkIXVYZbm0ci_opNtxysrqpa-sZjiMmzJXOq2ZFIh_DBjJLxsv6168XZEiLolPUPNIrLZoocvXuY0cbsJ9ynQejR0lTFNWsw-LfUDtX119dyG2pXK_eB0gNYZVgibD2-8/s1600/Rainbow+Pops+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0DKKSqnjYmvqkIXVYZbm0ci_opNtxysrqpa-sZjiMmzJXOq2ZFIh_DBjJLxsv6168XZEiLolPUPNIrLZoocvXuY0cbsJ9ynQejR0lTFNWsw-LfUDtX119dyG2pXK_eB0gNYZVgibD2-8/s640/Rainbow+Pops+4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
5. Pour your nonpareil sprinkles into a bowl with high sides. They bounce all around so the high sides should keep em' from going all over your kitchen floor. :) Take your cookie with the still-wet royal icing spiral, hold it over your sprinkle bowl, and begin to pick up the sprinkles with your hand and drop them on the cookie. They will stick all over the wet spiral and any extras will fall right back into the bowl. Do this until the spiral is totally covered and shake off any excess sprinkles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAk46wK-0cXexoTjJ5_aydBknRWIA2nY26WRWDNzOsGSN8RAzFePQ2y65nJAxmPkRb95NjkaTn8o1VLY0D5H2gW5kVSeGyxI9zph-ovR_79MOJd5fETn7XJg2aaQFiBmZO-VEq4qf6-1M/s1600/Rainbow+Pops+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAk46wK-0cXexoTjJ5_aydBknRWIA2nY26WRWDNzOsGSN8RAzFePQ2y65nJAxmPkRb95NjkaTn8o1VLY0D5H2gW5kVSeGyxI9zph-ovR_79MOJd5fETn7XJg2aaQFiBmZO-VEq4qf6-1M/s640/Rainbow+Pops+5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Voila! You'll want to do these one at a time after your squeeze your spiral on. This way you make sure your spiral stays wet enough for the sprinkles to stick.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0pIUe6agKxE-gGj3wTinW8B230CGS-EeYq9mG-puapLdeCdatqaHmRPF4okECRf5LkWDHB3v7suiDyPnVvZlOqpj7oGyybj9oXw8lO4vP7ROsEZ5I8GOZFO3cp6OIoW9IbO71freZ638/s1600/Rainbow+Pops+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0pIUe6agKxE-gGj3wTinW8B230CGS-EeYq9mG-puapLdeCdatqaHmRPF4okECRf5LkWDHB3v7suiDyPnVvZlOqpj7oGyybj9oXw8lO4vP7ROsEZ5I8GOZFO3cp6OIoW9IbO71freZ638/s640/Rainbow+Pops+6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

If you want to get fancy, insert your cookies into clear favor bags and tie them off with a cute ribbon. Fun! :)<br />

So now if I want to reference a recipe that I saw on the internet, I know exactly where to find it. Case in point, I pinned a Wisconsin Beer Cheese soup in my "Recipes to Try" pinboard and decided to make it this week. Yummy!<br />
<br />
Not only can you keep your own favorite things in one place, but you can also see what your friends are pinning. It's so fun and addicting! Give it a try, and while you're at it, click my "Follow Me On Pinterest" button on the right side of my blog to see what I'm pinning. You'll surely get sucked in, but don't say I didn't warn you. ;)Staceyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12919265548028901103noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5025863322858019704.post-28651191408323832792011-06-20T21:19:00.000-04:002011-06-20T21:19:45.371-04:00Rainbow Cookie PopsRemember these lollipops that you used to get at the fair?<br />

When a benefit bake sale came to my attention I thought it would be fun to recreate those lollipops as a cookie pop. Here is the end result!<br />

The inspiration came from <a href="http://iammommy.typepad.com/i_am_baker/2011/01/verticle-layer-rose-cake-1.html">this</a> entry on iambaker's blog. I love how fancy the rose swirls look, yet they are still simple. I decided to add a second tier and a fondant bow and pearls to finish it off. The cake was a 6 inch tier and a 3 inch tier, so I made some cupcakes to make sure there was enough to go around. We brought it into her work and it was a hit! I also got to use my fun black cake stand that my hubs got me for my birthday this year. Hurrah!<div><br />

We got Howie about 6 weeks ago and he has been tons of fun. One of the best decisions we've ever made!!! Howie comes from a breeder about an hour from here. We brought him home when he was 10 weeks old and have spent time every day training him and hopefully molding him into a nice little doggie. :) So far he knows the following commands/words:<br />
<br />
Sit<br />
Stay<br />
Down<br />
Come here<br />
Go Potty<br />
Give Kisses<br />
Howie (he has to look me in the eye when I say his name)<br />
Touch the bell (to go outside)<br />
Go in your house (cage)<br />
Bang! (play dead)<br />
Go Sleepy<br />
Wanna go outside? (he gets pretty excited at this)<br />
Want a cookie? (he gets excited and looks at his box of biscuits)<br />
Clicky time (time to train with a clicker)<br />
Brushy time (time to get brushed)<br />
Want to come up? (get ready to be picked up)<br />
<br />
I am so proud of all of the things that he's learned so far, but he still has a long way to go. We still have to work on him not pulling the leash on our walks, and he's still pretty independent and doesn't come when called all of the time. That's a shih-tzu trait - stubbornness! I'm also going to add some more tricks like shake, sit up, roll over, and lots more. Here are a few pics of my little guy. We are so in love! :)<br />

Lydia is the daughter of our friends Ashlie and Matt and she loves the color red. So appropriately, the theme of the party was ladybugs! Matt and Ashlie sent me a picture of a cake made by Pink Cake Box and asked that I repeat it. So I definitely don't claim this design as my own! It was fun to make, although I did have quite the delivery scare. The week that I was supposed to work on it, I got sick. Being sick and making food for 30 people doesn't mix! So I had to wait until the morning of the party to put it all together. Eek! This meant that the cake couldn't be refrigerated to firm up like I would usually do with an all-buttercream cake. We loaded it into the car, got going, and let me tell you, that thing wiggled and giggled like you wouldn't believe! I seriously thought it was going to topple over! But alas, God was smiling on me and we made it there with the cake in once piece. In the end the cake made it there, although slightly leaning and with some shifted lady bugs. I heard that it was a hit. Whew!<br />

I was asked to bake something for a recent benefit bake sale for a little girl that has a severe medical condition. The proceeds went towards paying for her medical bills, so I figured I'd make something fancy looking that might make a few more dollars for a worthy cause. I've been wanting to try out the <a href="http://www.wilton.com/blog/index.php/add-beauty-and-elegance-with-the-brush-embroidery-technique/">brush embroidery</a> technique and thought this would be the perfect time to try! I like how they turned out. I thought of naming them "Granny Cookies" because they look like something a granny would eat with a cup of tea. :)<br />
Here are my finished cookies and a step by step of how I did them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkcw7E98HzoxSkfWuZcYNWKGzj5jZl3BFxt7RM78i-yuesVnaRRNKAzoD8ANDjOdpcCwaFyS8vNZ32Y9Wtz7QHpzJmlFUCr0JiIpZwsBzwmcGx0ZvZASstnSuB1djkAii4G_KA9-MWZJs/s1600/IMG_66211.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkcw7E98HzoxSkfWuZcYNWKGzj5jZl3BFxt7RM78i-yuesVnaRRNKAzoD8ANDjOdpcCwaFyS8vNZ32Y9Wtz7QHpzJmlFUCr0JiIpZwsBzwmcGx0ZvZASstnSuB1djkAii4G_KA9-MWZJs/s640/IMG_66211.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 1: I iced some <a href="http://cakecentral.com/recipes/2055/no-fail-sugar-cookies">sugar cookies</a> with <a href="http://cakecentral.com/recipes/1983/antonia74-royal-icing">royal icing</a> and let them sit for a few hours until firm. I also added a white pearl border.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMDEnpcGGINXsK_Talk4QRGXHiWPlGZbEH4ieWbYDrBdiQPY9l7kJG-jNBnlCfpeoWSurdBKBztahmQPaY6fSqPwIxLZWaeC14cx9uacQtzNvKS8bwmuEhHt3-h3Xt7sskcPZQ15Ymt3M/s1600/IMG_65991.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMDEnpcGGINXsK_Talk4QRGXHiWPlGZbEH4ieWbYDrBdiQPY9l7kJG-jNBnlCfpeoWSurdBKBztahmQPaY6fSqPwIxLZWaeC14cx9uacQtzNvKS8bwmuEhHt3-h3Xt7sskcPZQ15Ymt3M/s640/IMG_65991.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 2: Pipe a flower outline onto the cookie. Don't worry about it looking perfect here, it can be pretty sloppy and still be redeemed. :) You can do one flower in the center or make some hanging off the edges like this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXTn7T26Et4xkhYdYI5iWhQ1rDawMIJsbMv_jBG5jv06_yj7wXFaIM1EfpN_-ZoEe84e1ashf7yHgBQMGQlBlQL_yTwfrXR1sgAtvxk2JmaFlb5Gcdr3h87H9soF9p_LysAKV9Xmliy90/s1600/IMG_66031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXTn7T26Et4xkhYdYI5iWhQ1rDawMIJsbMv_jBG5jv06_yj7wXFaIM1EfpN_-ZoEe84e1ashf7yHgBQMGQlBlQL_yTwfrXR1sgAtvxk2JmaFlb5Gcdr3h87H9soF9p_LysAKV9Xmliy90/s640/IMG_66031.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 3: Take a small paint brush (used only for food, of course) and dip it in a small bowl of water nearby. Dab the brush on a paper towel to get the excess water off. Then brush the icing on your flower outline in toward the center to make petals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVS2mIrsOzABNIS9Ems8z-GejfTCJPnUibih4Qzvl49zEiR-9RZQp8Cx24YAb-QyDUMWachW_x-pSyjtW6218lChtSiEmTO9u3jvoKvSPF1vf5sJOj_wLU_0-5TyOn3KRGUjC7pQT01mw/s1600/IMG_66061.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVS2mIrsOzABNIS9Ems8z-GejfTCJPnUibih4Qzvl49zEiR-9RZQp8Cx24YAb-QyDUMWachW_x-pSyjtW6218lChtSiEmTO9u3jvoKvSPF1vf5sJOj_wLU_0-5TyOn3KRGUjC7pQT01mw/s640/IMG_66061.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Step 4: After brushing the outer petals, pipe in two or three more petals in the center and repeat step 3 on those petals.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLD55wfrct8EIs1ziXh6oRKe98JH6G64JcfoPkKJMf8xZhHw2CH46VAC91vJVaSrnejdFsKc_nxhj3MDUgwcIDnwF6YYrSVbErOS666FZ2iDDmfTp3uu4YnTiS5jcdV5CqnQ7CEoNDEE/s1600/IMG_66091.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKLD55wfrct8EIs1ziXh6oRKe98JH6G64JcfoPkKJMf8xZhHw2CH46VAC91vJVaSrnejdFsKc_nxhj3MDUgwcIDnwF6YYrSVbErOS666FZ2iDDmfTp3uu4YnTiS5jcdV5CqnQ7CEoNDEE/s640/IMG_66091.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 5: Add a dot to the center of your flower and also around the flowers if you'd like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWoiKDaI1l7ReV7L5PDnHDORtaO0pLuTFDpf255LSPKim6la3DU7Aq_4f7ycmGsxP4ASACQflnUKH0FuzFnfYZs4zWJrKT0n177qdGqMulSDJc019KGvzF2CWtD6a9x4Wv7ddJTX9fX50/s1600/IMG_66101.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWoiKDaI1l7ReV7L5PDnHDORtaO0pLuTFDpf255LSPKim6la3DU7Aq_4f7ycmGsxP4ASACQflnUKH0FuzFnfYZs4zWJrKT0n177qdGqMulSDJc019KGvzF2CWtD6a9x4Wv7ddJTX9fX50/s640/IMG_66101.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mIuKXtw-Ywg/TW6HDK18JeI/AAAAAAAABRs/ysOndSnd7HA/s1600/IMG_66121.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mIuKXtw-Ywg/TW6HDK18JeI/AAAAAAAABRs/ysOndSnd7HA/s640/IMG_66121.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
And that's it! I put these in twos in clear plastic bags and tied with ribbon to make them even cuter. This was time consuming to make 40 cookies, but sooo easy! Try it!<br />
<br />

He saw a five tier Mario cake online and wanted something just like it. I talked him down to three tiers and went to work on the design: a three tiered cake with Mario popping out of a green tube at the top. The cake took me about a week to finish between the baking, making the icings/fillings, and creating all of the little fondant decorations. We unveiled it at his 30th birthday on Saturday and it was a hit. :)<br />
<br />
Here are some pics of the finished product. Enjoy!<br />

We've been here a week and I haven't had much time to blog until now. So let's rewind to last Thursday. We hired movers and they came to our apartment and had all of our stuff packed in their truck within a few hours. After that, we headed over to U-Haul to get a tow dolly to tow Ryan's car behind my car the whole way to Wisconsin. Yes, we drove from Florida to Wisconsin in this contraption...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdMXq6_W6MD691AmjDTajjcqXrZrTu4OIhFLX0fXfB8sozoar3pyrw4KweuaMfSHm5Vk_cCphCIiVKJ6mdYkDdGMgWmekPjSsAO-DV853FsOzyVCTaKwVJm8qY3FY3umW-I6IH7yzjYEg/s1600/163287_494036779479_500039479_6014870_8235595_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdMXq6_W6MD691AmjDTajjcqXrZrTu4OIhFLX0fXfB8sozoar3pyrw4KweuaMfSHm5Vk_cCphCIiVKJ6mdYkDdGMgWmekPjSsAO-DV853FsOzyVCTaKwVJm8qY3FY3umW-I6IH7yzjYEg/s640/163287_494036779479_500039479_6014870_8235595_n.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I really thought that we were going to end up in a ditch somewhere on the side of the road in the middle of Kentucky, but we made it safe and sound. The roads were all clear except for an icy stretch in Tennessee where we almost collided with a semi, but that's a story for a later date. The point is, we made it!<br />
<br />
Now I am getting myself acclimated to a whole different world. A world where you see stuff like this while driving...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuqOi-RKgCWL08KgVWmHWQuaDnXd-6X4tNmGKDulbMiSkkH2xJul_JhQsb-bR38ka1kuT1lQ-Wqw5bwvYKsi583F2ZgdGCzdCkL2OSib2B7X0TnfOMHFvZpcWwvRA5ZRcYIjUd6SfHI3g/s1600/Wisconsin+020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuqOi-RKgCWL08KgVWmHWQuaDnXd-6X4tNmGKDulbMiSkkH2xJul_JhQsb-bR38ka1kuT1lQ-Wqw5bwvYKsi583F2ZgdGCzdCkL2OSib2B7X0TnfOMHFvZpcWwvRA5ZRcYIjUd6SfHI3g/s640/Wisconsin+020.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Yes, that's a truck full of snow.<br />
<br />
And this...<br />

A ski and tubing hill with lifts! So fun, and it's only about 35 minutes away. :)<br />
<br />
I think it will be fun living here and getting to do different things than what I was accustomed to in Florida. Next up in our plans is Ryan's 30th's birthday I'm making a Super Mario Brothers cake to celebrate it. Then the Packers will play in the Super Bowl the day after his party Should be a fun couple of weeks! :)Staceyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12919265548028901103noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5025863322858019704.post-51602213671105578362011-01-11T22:55:00.001-05:002011-01-11T22:57:25.078-05:00You Gotta Start Somewhere!We started packing our apartment this week and I found a few old pics of the first stacked cake I ever made. Wow is it bad! I guess it's just proof that practice is a GOOD THING! Here she is. Isn't she a beauty (insert sarcastic tone here)? :P<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_g4JxMly7_aA/TS0jRaPaspI/AAAAAAAABKw/_YYyfYp3qEM/s1600/002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_g4JxMly7_aA/TS0jRaPaspI/AAAAAAAABKw/_YYyfYp3qEM/s640/002.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div>Hahahaha! I laugh every time I see it. Man, I really didn't know what I was doing. This was made out of two box cake mixes and a few cans of frosting. No boards in between tiers, no support dowels. It slid all over the place in the car on the way to take it to my friend Cristina. I made it for her as a little happy engagement present after her hubby proposed. I'm just glad I've made other (and much improved) cakes for Cristina since then to redeem myself!</div><div><br />

They are good on their own or you can throw them on some ice cream or a nice salad. Best part is, they were soooo easy!<br />
<br />
<b>Ingredients</b><br />
1 egg white<br />
1 or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (to taste)<br />
1/2 cup white sugar<br />
1/2 cup brown sugar<br />
3/4 teaspoon salt<br />
1 tbsp vanilla extract<br />
1 pound pecan halves<br />
<br />
<b>Directions</b><br />
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly butter or spray with a non-stick spray<br />
In a bowl, beat the egg white until foamy. Mix in cinnamon, sugars, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix well. Stir in pecan halves, stirring until well coated. Spread on baking sheet.<br />
Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.<br />
<br />
To make a pretty gift out of the pecans, fill up any size mason jar, top with a circle of fabric and screw the lid on. Add a bow to finish it off!<br />
